This book is all about friendship and protection. The world in this book is human less. There are no humans. In fact, humans (Skinless Ones or Old Devils) are forbidden from the land and if foud will immediately be executed. Now this bear (Cassomae) has had a lot of kids and none of them had made it. When a "Spaceship" crashed in the forest with a child in it, Cassomae kicks into her protective mode and protects the child from the Ogeema tribe, as she would her own son.
